Sven Müller Is The New Porsche Junior

M13_3528 (1)Sven Müller is to contest the 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland as Porsche Junior. The 21-year-old from Bingen, Germany, who has performed well in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, came out on top in a demanding multi-level selection process against young pilots from all over the world. Factors taken into account were fitness, mental strength, and technical understanding as well as working together with engineers, consistent times over a race distance, and simulated qualifying laps.

“Overall, Sven was the candidate who made the greatest impression,” says Jonas Krauss, Manager of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. “He brings a great deal of experience and he was able to best implement what he had worked out in the data analysis with our engineers at the wheel of the unfamiliar Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. So far, he has shown his immense talent in single-seaters. We’re thrilled that he now tackles new challenges in the sports car scene. Our Porsche one-make cups are an excellent platform for this.”

Sven Müller began his racing career in 2004 in karting. In 2010 he switched to the ADAC Formula Masters, won three races the following year, and yielded third place overall. In 2012 he achieved a victory in the Formula 3 Euroseries. The youngster concluded his 2013 racing season with a podium result at the season finale of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at Hockenheim.

Sven Müller will choose his team for next year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Porsche provides him with a budget of 150,000 Euro for the season. Like all Porsche juniors, he also receives comprehensive support and supervision on and off the race track. This includes, for example, mental training and fitness plans under which the Porsche factory pilots also train, as well as regular fitness checks.

“This marks a turning point in my career. It’s an incredible chance that you don’t often get as a race driver,” says Sven Müller. His first race in the cockpit of the 460 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be at Hockenheim on 3 May 2014. “I’m looking forward to my first season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Although I’ve only ever driven karts and single-seaters, I immediately felt comfortable at the wheel of the Cup-911. I’ll do everything I can to justify the trust that Porsche has placed in me by performing well.”
