Seb Perez took his second podium of the season with an impressive third place in his Amigos Redline Racing machine last weekend (June 14-16) as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB travelled north for rounds five and six at Croft. 
Starting the first race of the weekend fifth in the Pro class, Seb had a clean getaway and did well to move to fourth by the end of the opening lap, also getting past Pro-Am drivers in the process.
At the halfway point of the 15-lap contest, the 19-year-old made a bold move as he squeezed up the inside of fellow Pro driver Dan Vaughan at the hairpin to take fourth place overall and third in class, a position he would not relinquish to the flag.
Thanks to the reverse grid format in the Carrera Cup, Seb then started on pole for race two. Dark clouds loomed over the circuit moments before the formation lap got underway and as the cars travelled back to the grid the heavens opened.
Shod with slick tyres, Seb had a difficult decision to make whether to line up on pole. Along with his two main rivals Josh Webster and Harper, the Chesterfield-native chose to stick with what he had, whilst the rest of the grid pulled into the pits to change to wets.
Doing well to control his 485hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car on a wet circuit on dry tyres, Seb held on for five laps before pitting himself. Despite a blisteringly quick pitstop courtesy of the Amigos Redline Racing team, he returned to the track mid-way down the field.
While a Safety Car then bunched everyone together it was increasingly difficult to challenge for positions due to limited visibility and standing water on track, so Seb held on to take sixth place in Pro, securing further valuable points in his first year in the top class of the series.
Seb will return to the track in his Amigos Redline Racing Porsche at Oulton Park in Cheshire in just two weeks’ time (June 28-30).

“It was great getting the podium in race one and it’s typical you get a reverse grid pole but then you get some random anomaly, so lose where you start from. I’ve never had such a crazy race in all my racing career and doubt I ever will again. It was very weird. Myself, Dan and Josh were the only three cars to line up on the grid, so you start to think ‘oh have I done the right thing?’
“To be honest, I thought they would bring out the red flag and deem it as a wet race, but that didn’t happen, so we were a few laps too late with the pit stop. But when there’s only three cars out on slick tyres you sort of stick with them. It wasn’t ideal, but we made it round in one piece. We weren’t on a wet set-up either so that didn’t help.”
