Today I had a look at this new Seiko 5 model and took a few quick pictures. It’s one of two two limited editions being released, the other is Peanuts ‘Surfboard’ This is the smaller of the two with a 36.37mm case size. It’s an automatic watch using the Seiko 4R36 movement. With a list price of £330 and limited to 6,500 I’m sure it will sell very well. It’s fitted with an 18mm black leather strap, Hardex crystal, and is water resistant to 10 bar.
I’ve now had the chance to see the larger Surfboard release, this one has a 38mm case size and comes on a NATO strap. This one has an edition of 8,900 pieces and I believe it is in more demand. It sells for £350 here in the UK. With its short lug to lug, some might find it too small.
Out of the two which do I prefer, it’s the smaller Parachute edition, both designs are nice and will be enjoyable watches to wear. For me the Parachute just has the edge over its bigger brother.
